Bibliography

Professor Shieh received PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  In 1994, he was offered the prestigious Professorship of the Department of Radiology, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, to be in charge of the research and development of telemedicine and teleradiology.  He led a team to design and develop a highly successful PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System), which was awarded Certificate of Merit and demonstrated in the 1998 annual meeting of Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago. It has been licensed and used in several medical center hospitals in the United States.  In 2002, he joined the Department of Radiological Sciences of School of Medicine, University of California Irvine (UCI) as a Professor and became the Director of Medical Imaging and Informatics in 2005.  In 2009, he was a Visiting Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering of Chang Gung University and became a formal Professor one year later.  Professor Shieh was invited to be the chairman presiding over the round-table forum on “Consumer Electronics @ Healthcare” in the 2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics in Berlin, Germany, and the chairman of two invited sessions on Healthcare Applications at 2014 IEEE ICCE Conference at Las Vegas, USA.  His research interests are in Medical Imaging, Computer-aided Diagnosis, Medical Informatics and Pattern Recognition.　He is a member of IEEE and AAPM (American Association of Physicists in Medicine).
